As an exercise in writing for as many voices as I could, I managed to use 15 parts for the opening movement of Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata. A single soprano, with 3 altos, 3 tenors, 3 basses, 2 great and 2 contra basses, and a single C sub-great bass.
To a Water Lily
It seems Edward MacDowell’s “To a Wild Rose” is famous, but I didn’t like it much. Instead I took his water lily from the same bundle of “Woodlands Sketches” and arranged it for 11 recorders: SAATBBBGGCC.
